Imagine...

If you have a friend who needs help. Say someone is addicted to some illegal drugs on their parents' money. And you happen to be the only one who knows about the truth. He / she begs you not to disclose the information to anyone including his / her parents, actually esp his / her parents. But he / she continues to consume drug on parents' money. Finally, money went dry, your friend went to gamble and own huge debt four digits. He / she borrow money from everyone, no time study. Yet still refuse to get help, just say "I'll sort it out."

As this guy / girl's friend, he / she warned you not to disclose information, if you do, they threaten not being friend with you, hate you ... etc. whould you

a) inform his / her parents about the truth. (given he / she is fearful toward the parents and the parents have large influence to stop the madness)

b) Give 'friendly' advice but don't tell the parents, hopefully he / she will give up on drugs one day. in particular, you certainly don't want the friend to hate you. (cause they will, if you tell their parents)

c) you can write your own solution.

I would choose a) any given time. even though i know, the friend would hate me, would swear at me. But i know it's the right thing.
